Elevating Creativity with the Dragon Stone Shrine MOC by u/reise_knot

Are you looking for a new project to sink your teeth into? Look no further! Reddit user u/reise_knot recently shared an impressive MOC that caught many attention. Let's delve into his creation process and tips provided to recreate your own version of the elevated Dragon Stone Shrine.

In the post, u/reise_knot graciously shared insights into his process and the sets he used to bring his vision to life. Combining two sets of the LEGO® Icons Tranquil Garden (10315) with one set of the LEGO® NINJAGO® Dragon Stone Shrine (71819), he crafted a scene that's as enchanting as it is imaginative.

For those eager to replicate this awe-inspiring creation, u/reise_knot offered some valuable tips. While instructions weren't initially planned, here are some key takeaways from him:

  • I mirrored the base plate design for the tranquil gardens, leaving off the middle raised bezel/border that is between the two plates and extending the build between the two plates by one stud on each plate so they seamlessly connect to one another.

  • I continued the riverbed pattern from the gardens (under the water tiles) and extended the bank onto the shrine base, I then laid down the grey tiling that the shrine sits on (the shrine can be removed easily from the base!) then filled in the water tiling.

  • I did need to have a bunch of extra 1x4 trans light blue water pieces (extra 30-40) to complete the build, alongside some extra trans light blue/trans dark blue/trans clear assorted pieces used for the flowing water under the rocky outcrop.

  • I got creative with the rocky outcrop (I had a blast building random rocky bits covered in vegetation) which I envisioned to be the “secret stepping stones” connecting the tranquil garden path to the hideout around the back of the shrine (I did need some extra 2x2 olive wedge plates, flowers, leaves & random rocky parts to complete this). My main advice here is ensuring that the rocks don’t prevent the shrine from connecting to the base when you go to attach it (which happened to me more than once) & making sure you have studs for your minifigures to stand/run on.

  • The bamboo plants are the exact builds from the tranquil gardens that can be removed from the outcrop and replaced with the other plant builds from the gardens (like the extra cherry blossom trees) if you wish.

While instructions aren't available, u/reise_knot's detailed tips and inspiring photos serve as excellent references for fellow builders. As he humorously note, the toughest part of the build might just be gathering the funds to acquire the necessary sets, but the end result is undoubtedly worth it.

Feeling inspired? Why not give it a try yourself? Check out u/reise_knot's Reddit post for inspiration and reference, and let your creativity soar. Remember, you don't need to be a LEGO master to create something amazing!
